Tension & release technique to tell a story through music
Tension and release is one of the common techniques used in music for story-telling. As the name suggests, the music starts off in a relatively calm way and eventually builds up creating a tension. Later, the tension is slowly released. The musical peaks created through this process can build up more excitement and can be used to get your audience's attention.
We've used this technique in our reinterpretation of Olafur Arnalds' track, Only the Winds. We're sharing it again so that you get an idea of how the tension & release technique works. Hope you like it.
