One thing to do for part-time composers
The boon and bane of being a musician is the simple fact that you can make music. While every note you pen down feels like nirvana, it's hard to keep doing it while keeping pace with the stress of everyday life : the job, the drive, the noise, the schedule..the list goes on.
The effects are quite obvious as you review the music you have written, for music is but a reflection of your state of mind.It was at such a juncture that we, at The Cocoknot Theori, decided to hit the reset button and pretty much take the distractions out of our lives ; though for one day.
We decided to spend a day at the Candlewood Cabins near Madison, WI. The beautiful cabin was inside the woods and there was no access to internet, phone or any media. So, we were forced to connect with nature. We were left with our own thoughts for a change, instead of consuming other's thoughts. Therefore, we focussed on getting our ideas out fast while the inspiration lasted.
The final product was an original single named Ariyathe, which is yet to be released. Just like how we did Outlived, we implemented Parkinson's Law in this case as well. Needless to say, we were happy with the output.
Here is a glimpse of our time at The Candlewood Cabins.
